Dr Orville D. Nembhard MB BS MPH MBA
Dr Nembhard is a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Medical Class of ’83. He also holds a Master of Public Health from the same institution and an MBA from the University of Leicester, UK. He has been in family practice since 1987 and is one of the founding directors of Health Plus Associates. He is a graduate of Calabar High School in Jamaica where for his outstanding academic performance he obtained the Issa Scholarship.

In the past he has worked with the Ministry of Health, Jamaica as a Medical Officer of Health and was also a lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Faculty of Medical Sciences. His research interests include epidemiological and policy issues on injury prevention. In this light he has received training at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and the Indian Institute of Technology.

He has previously served on the Executive of the National Road Safety Council of Jamaica. Dr Nembhard has also received training at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research in Bangladesh.  He is known not only for his skills as a family physician but also for his business acumen. In the past he had a very successful stint with Glaxo Wellcome Caribbean as Medical Advisor and subsequently Caribbean Area Manager.

Dr Nembhard’s main hobby is music. He has interests in a wide range of music from Bach to Buju Banton and from Beethoven to Bounty Killa. For many years he sang with the world famous University Singers of the West Indies.
